Mt Rainier has a wide caldera at the summit. Strong winds whip around inside this depression and if there are clouds around spins them into these shapes. 100 percent real just some contrast and sharpness tweaking in CS3.

Critique: Marylee said it well. I think as a photograph it could be improved by cropping the top part of the sky. I also wish there was more foreground. Still, this is a stunning image perfectly exposed.

I thought about cropping some of the sky but liked the triangle that the cirrus clouds made with the contrails so kept it. Also, as for foreground, I was shooting over the tops of evergreen trees so they wouldn't have added anything.

Wow, I've never seen cloud formations like this before... incredible. Critique: I'd like to see more of the mountain, where you cut it off on the right side. The dark portion of the sky, between the ridge and the cloud formations, is slightly noisy.

I love these kind of cloud shots and would love to see this kind of formation.

Awesome clouds! I think the top 3rd of the photo is a bit unnecessary, crop the top and you have a great panorama!
