Location
This photo was taken on a "whim" in my parent's backyard. I grew up here. The house is not the same, but the land remains. It is a very special place for me and I hold it deep in my heart.Time
The photo was taken just before sunset.Lighting
The location is rural western Wisconsin. So, the light is fabulous near sunset in the winter months. The air is crisp and clean and the reflections off of the snow are truly remarkable. I remember taking in a deep breath, holding it, ... and pushing the shutter...all the while...talking to my mom who was standing quite a few feet behind me about something seemingly nonimportant at the time.Equipment
This was taken with a kit lens. It was taken during the first year I owned my new DSLR camera. It is true, what they say...its not the equipment one owns, but living the moment and having the desire to share and understand the beauty that unfolds around us. We just need to open our eyes and see it.Inspiration
The inspiration came from the wonderful sunset and having my camera in hand and being prepared.Editing
During my first year of owning my DSLR, post processing was very new to me. I have always been a student of art and I create and post process images the way that I see them, not to appeal to others. Therefore, this photo is basically a WYSIWYG or "what you see is what you get." Because it was taken in my parents backyard...the processing did not much matter to me at the time.In my camera bag
My Canon 60d... and my only three lenses I own. That's it.Feedback
Live the moment. All of my best captures have happened because I have thoroughly enjoyed living the moment....just being in that specific spot in time and appreciating what I am experiencing...whether it be a horses' romp...a child's smile....or the view from the backyard where I grew up.
