Location
This photo was taken last year 2013 on a beautiful sunset evening, the spray lakes are located just above the town of Canmore in AB Canada.Time
Photo was taken between the hours of 4pm - 6pm just as the sun was setting behind the mountain tops.Lighting
Funny you should ask, I had already known where the sun was setting and had pre checked the location a day prior to this photo, I knew where the sunlight would strike on the water and kept walking along the lake side to see where it would best fit into the composition, the light shining on the ice/water makes it very dramatic in a sense.Equipment
Just my trusty Nikon D3100 and an 18mm-55mm lens, nothing else.Inspiration
I love water, anything to do with water reflections, best time I find to go is early morning or late evening to avoid wind that would essentially create ripples through the water, once I see a water pool I have to asses every angel, other than that a few local photographers who take pride in their water photography or lake photography have inspired me to seek out some of my own inspiration.Editing
I did, but nothing more then play with some colors, shadows highlights and contrast, I don't like to alter the photo too much, the more natural it can look the better I find it :)In my camera bag
My Nikon D3100, 18mm-55mm Lens, my zoom lens 55mm-200mm and my tripod of course which I take everywhere I go :)Feedback
Take your time, find out the location, work it, go at different hours, see where the light hits and where the shadows hit, always always always check the weather report online before heading out, wind conditions. Once you get out there, try different angels, and different corners and spots around the lake, you'd be surprised how much walking 10m or 20m to the left or right makes :)
