Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my house with a bouquet of flowers. I wanted to try some macro photography.

Time

I was working from home and took a lunch break. I decided to photograph this flower around noon.

Lighting

I used natural lighting and overhead lighting from my breakfast bar. I was trying to get the lighting just right with what I had.

Equipment

An iPhone 12 was used with a small tripod to hold it steady. I placed the phone rather close and used portrait mode for some bokeh. Unfortunately I couldn’t shoot in RAW so I couldn’t get as much data as I would have liked to.

Inspiration

I was wanting to see the capabilities of the iPhone 12 and see if it could produce high quality photos.

Editing

With a photo like this I did use post processing. I only used Lightroom. The photo was cropped and color of the flower was turned into a darker purple then the original flower. I also sharpened the photo and used the clarity and debate function to really define the center portion of the flower.

In my camera bag

I usually use a Cannon 6D mk ii with a Tamron 24-70mm lense and a cannon 50mm lense. I have recently used an iPhone 13 Pro to capture landscape photos.

Feedback

Practice, be creative, and shoot everything. It may not turn out how you originally planned but you can always come back to the picture and edit later.
