Location
This Photo was taken on an A380 at Terminal 3 Heathrow. Receiving this award as a self taught photographer/editor has really given me that confidence boost I neededTime
I remember taking this photo around 3pm on a very windy day whilst the teams at the airport prepared the flight for take off. Working at the airport has its perks- I took this opportunity whilst receding a tour of my favourite birdLighting
The lighting in the cockpit wasn't the best and you'd think the A380 would be spacious, but quite the opposite. I figured if I took this picture at a lower angle, I'd get the natural lighting shining on the deck giving it a very focused look on the keysEquipment
I shot this on my canon 700D, unfortunately I can't remember which lens I used but the ISO was at 1600 and aperture at 45/10.Inspiration
I've always loved airplanes particularly the A380 and when I had the opportunity to check the cockpit out, I thought my camera deserved to see and capture the moment too. I wanted to make all those complicated buttons look satisfyingly artistic!Editing
Yes of course - I enhanced the colours like the natural blues and the pink on the screen for some contrast. The blacks and shadows played a key part in the edit as it gave shape to the photo ensuring symmetry was kept. This allowed the picture to look almost mirroredIn my camera bag
Well, the camera of course and then 4 lenses. An all rounder 18-58mm, a 50mm, 10-18mm and a 75-300mm for when I want to spy on the moon. A few filters for day time long exposures, a tripod and batteries most importantly. Oh and a spare SD card just incase ;)Feedback
I always find that the best pictures come unplanned. As long as you have the vision, everyone can create their version of art. Most importantly enjoy the moment, when you put love into something, your end product will relay that.
