Behind The Lens

Location

Macrons are very tasty cookies and I adore them for their flavor and photogenicity. So I took a lot of photos at home in the makeshift studio. This one is my favorite.

Time

As I already wrote, they are my favorites and I also bought them for the purpose of taking photos. I prepared the scene and late in the afternoon a series of photos was taken where the cookies are the main actors.

Lighting

The cookies are such beautiful soft colors and that’s why I wanted natural light. The window on the left added a perfectly gentle soft lighting. Only on the right did I balance the lighting with a white photographic reflector.

Equipment

Exif shows that the photo was taken with the Nikon D610, a 105 mm Nikon macro lens out of hand.

Inspiration

Like many photographers, I also like to visit sites where I can find really beautiful photos. I have seen cookies many times that can be photographed in many ways so much that I simply had to create some sweet photos with them.

Editing

I like to do Photoshop, so I always open all the photos in, cut them out, correct the contrasts, the light. I make several versions of one photo, always posting the one that suits me best. I enjoy photo processing and, like all amateurs, I often exaggerate.

In my camera bag

Still in my backpack is my Nikon D610, Nikon lenses 70-200mm f 2.8, 24-70mm f 2.8 and a wide-angle Nikon 16-35mm, and a macro lens 105mmf 2.8. That's all. I use the tripod many times, especially when I photograph water and when I use my only ND filter.

Feedback

Almost every one of us loves cookies, so why not paint them first and then eat them. And when you’re at home and don’t know what to do, taking photos of a variety of sweets as well as spices and other foods is a great time to fill. And beautiful shots are always made. We also eat with our eyes, so keep your goodies on the table and beautiful photos at the same time.
