Behind The Lens

Location

This image is from the most Westerly point on the Isle of Skye called Neist Point Lighthouse near the township of Glendale, Scotland.

Time

This image was taken just before sunset in mid March 2020 (The day before lockdown)

Lighting

The sky can never be satisfactory for a photographer, we had no cloud at all, so we had to make the best of what was available. A Grad filter was used just to take the edge off the sky and add that little something extra.

Equipment

Canon 5D SR with a Canon EF 24-70 F2.8 Mk2, Lee Grad filter. Manfrotto Tripod.

Inspiration

My colleague and I spent the weekend on the Isle of Skye taking in a few shots.

Editing

Just a little Lightroom work involved, nothing too heavy.

In my camera bag

Additional to the above, I will have a short zoom and a 70-300mm longer zoom, all Canon of course. Polarising filter, a few grad filters, big stopper, little stopper, Speedlite flash, torch, gloves, notepad, pen, batteries, Pollo mints, small mat to sit or kneel on.

Feedback

As is the case in all such photography, it's just a case of being there. A little homework always helps as well.
