Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my front yard one summer afternoon. It was a peaceful day with my dogs sitting on a blanket and reading books when I had this silly idea of my dogs being able to read. Long story short I placed a book on their paws and snapped a few photos with my phone.

Time

Like mentioned before this was taken during a peaceful summer afternoon with my dogs. It was raining nonstop for the past few days and the weather decided to clear up for that one day.

Lighting

At the time this was taken I was experimenting with my editing, but when I came to edit this I wanted to give it something subtle, so I took my time and

Equipment

This waas shot on my samsung galaxy j7. It's not fancy equipment, but it goes to show that you don't need a high end camera to capture moments like this one.

Inspiration

I was sitting with my dogs on a blanket outside reading and thought how silly it would be if they could read as well. Not too long after I placed the book on their paws and snapped a few photos.

Editing

Non of this was planned. I just happened to have a book and some treats handy when I got the idea and gave it a try.

In my camera bag

Previously when this was taken all I carried was my phone, a little pink selfie stick, and some dog treats, but now I've acquired a Nikon d3300, tripod, 18-55mm, my go to lens, and a 55-200mm lens.

Feedback

It's all trail and error. I took over 30 shots of my dog in different angles and positions with the book only to have one come out just to my liking, so it's essential to try different angles and positions of props to ensure you get something you're looking for.
