I took this photo in my workshop at home, I am a professional photographer by trade and during lockdown just had to keep myself buisy with new techniques.Time
This was taken in the afternoon but after a try or 2, I realized that I need to do a proper setup with my studio lights, well one soft box to be exact. I was quite nervouse abou the chance of sparks flying onto the delikate cloth.Lighting
I needed just a litle extra light at about a 60 degree angle to add some contrast around the hand.Equipment
I used a canon 7d with a canon 24-105 f/4 L, settings was shutter speed- 250/1, ISO - 100, Aperture f/4 on a tripod with the camera set up behind a pain of glass, softbox at about 60° and angled from the top, set to around a quarter of its full capacity.Inspiration
The fact that I am always looking for something diferent to the usual inspires me most of the time, this specific shoot was also driven by boredom and I've had this idea in my head for a while.Editing
I used Lightroom to adjust the contrast, cover up some text and added clarity to add to the dramatic effect I was looking for.In my camera bag
I never leave without my Canon 7d, 70-200 f/2.8, 24-105 f/4, 16-250 f/3.5-5.6 and speedlight flash but my go to setup is normaly with the 70-200Feedback
Protect your eyes and your equipment as best you can, make sure you have the correct background and that it is out of focus, then play around with diferent angles.
