This shot was taken going into the Panama Canal and all these ships were lined up for passage.Time
Around 10:00 am in the morning on a clear day this shot was calling out to be taken. I was onboard a cruise ship and shot over the aft of the ship capturing all these ships lining up.Lighting
Nothing special about lighting on this shot other than using a polorizer to saturate colors. Daylight settings on my Nikon with a fast shutter did the trick and I came away with a great moment.Equipment
This was take using Nikon D30 and was taken from the hip. When traveling I always carry a camera with me because you never know when something will just out at you and give you that Kodak moment.Inspiration
My inspiration always comes from just paying attention to my surroundings and looking for some a little different that normal. I’m a lover of ships and the ocean and when you see something likes this developing you always want to are advantage and get the shot.Editing
Post processing of this particular shot was just cleaning up and small spots and adjusting color balance. I use Photoshop as my primary post process program and use light room when needed. In my camera bag
When on vacation or in an area I’m not familiar with I keep my camera equipment to a minimum. I always figure I’d rather not loose a ton of equipment to some undesirable locals!Feedback
As with all my shots I’m always looking for the usual to be a little unusual. I usually start with a longer shot and then mover in closer to my subject. With this shot my first take did the trick and just moments later the whole scene changed to just average.
