Location
In Penitcton, British Columbia, during the 2018 Penticton Peach Festival. This specific competition was the Pentown Throwdown, and it was during the BMX street competition.Time
This was sometime between 2 and 3 pm PDT.Lighting
It was smoky due to forest fires that were going on all across BC during that summer, so the sun, while it was shining, was completely covered by smoke. The sky was, too.Equipment
Nikon D7200, Tamron 70-300mm USDInspiration
I wanted to take some sports photos in order to get more pictures for my portfolio.Editing
Yes. I used Affinity Photo to get rid of the chromatic aberration, and Aurora HDR in order to get the picture to look nice.In my camera bag
Nikon D7200, Tamron 70-300mm USD, Nikon 35mm DX, Nikon 85mm FX, Nikon 50mm FX, Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 HSM, a flash, extra SD cards, and some lens filters.Feedback
Just do your best to zoom in on the action, and take the pictures. Be sure to have your camera set to shutter priority, and have a shutter speed of at least 1/250 of a second. Faster shutter speeds might be necessary. Also, ensure that your camera is not set to single-shooting mode, but continuous shooting mode so that you can get multiple shots in one go. In this case, spray-and-pray is the only way you'll be able to find that one shot that works, and caught the action properly.
