Location
Milford Sound on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.Time
Mid morning around 10am as we had a cruise on the sound booked.Lighting
The West Coast of the south island is usually pretty wet, something like 7m of rain a year! The day before was overcast and wet but this particular day we struck it lucky!Equipment
Canon IXUS 800 IS 6MP Point and shoot camera.Inspiration
Mitre Peak is one of the iconic and much photographed parts of Milford Sound so as part of our holiday snaps I wanted 'that shot'.Editing
I took this in October 2007 so I can't honestly remember what post processing was done. Being that the camera only shoots Jpegs thares nopt a lot that can be done to it.In my camera bag
These days I have a Canon 60D SLR with a Tamron 17-55mm lens, a Canon L Series 70-300mm zoom lens and a Canon 50Ml Lens. I have a tripod that comes in a separate bag that I can also call upon if needed.. .Feedback
The only thing I can think of is that we drove over early in the morning (leaving Te Anau about 7am?) We rushed over there as we wanted to beat the tour buses and get on an earlier Cruise. I thought the light was much better in the morning for photography along the way than when we returned in the afternoon.
