Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on Thornybush Nature Reserve, Greater Kruger Park in South Africa. I was on a early morning patrol in the area this cheetah has been hanging out and found all of them playing in the open.

Time

This image was taken early morning on a cloudy day.

Lighting

As often happens with clouds the light was a bit flat, but also had less shadows to worry about. A few adjustments to the camera settings captured them perfectly.

Equipment

Image was taken with a Nikon D3s with 300mm f2.8 using only a bean bag as support.

Inspiration

With Cheetah being a vulnerable species it is always a pleasure and privilege to photograph them, even more so when their are cubs around!

Editing

Very little post processing was done here. A bit of contrast, highlights and sharpness, followed by a minimal crop to compliment the subject in the frame.

In my camera bag

Out in the field only the body and lens used as mentioned A good pair of binoculars is always a must.
