Behind The Lens
Location
Tracks Beach Park, Oahu, Hawaii.Time
7 in the morning.Lighting
I shot this in the open shade cast by the mountains nearby. It provided soft even light on the model.Equipment
I shot this hand held with a Fujifilm XT-1 and 35mm lens in manual mode. That lens is equivalent to 53mm on a full frame.Inspiration
The model asked me to shoot with her. I chose the location since I knew what the lighting was going to be like at that time of day.Editing
In Lightroom I used the Fuji Chrome profile and adjusted the tweaked the white balance to taste. I left everything else at default settings. In Photoshop I cleaned up the skin using the healing brush and then used frequency separation to even out the skin tones. I sharpened using Nik Collection Output Sharpening tool.In my camera bag
I always carry the 35mm and 56mm primes (FF 53 & 85mm). They handle 90% of my work. For tight spaces I use the 23mm (FF 35mm). I keep everything in arms reach on my Think Tank Pro Speed Belt and Hubba Hubba Hiney bag.Feedback
My advice is to find the nice light for the model. Shade, over cast, and golden hour is the light I like to shoot in. Watch out for shadows in the eyes and the direction of the shadow of the nose. Move around the model to find a background that is interesting and not blown out. Lastly I expose for nice skin tones.
