Location
The photo was taken at Sheriff’s Lench a Quaker village in Worcestershire, England. I was working as a Carpenter on a barn conversion. I had just purchased a Canon 400d and took it everywhere.Time
I had got to work early around 6am it was October and misty. I noticed the photo opportunity on route so I walked back and took the photoLighting
Natural light was the key to the shot, it lit the mist just to the left of the gate. It was a beautiful autumn morning.Equipment
I used a tripod and standard kit lens. I wanted to hold the shutter open to get as much detail as possible f22Inspiration
It was the beautiful autumn colours that inspired me and the puddle in the foreground for a great reflection so sharp.Editing
There wasn’t any need for post-processing. I’d spent all spare money on my camera so couldn’t afford photoshop as well !!!In my camera bag
My camera kit has changed a lot since I took that photo now I pack a canon 70d a 10-20mm 15-85mm 50mm f1.4 70-200mm f2.8 100-400mm f4.5 and a tripod, filters spare storage and batteries. I seem to have managed all these years with no flash gun !Feedback
The best advise I can give to take a photo like that is to keep your eyes peeled to see the shot before it’s taken and of course get up early.
