Location

I took this Photograph in Ladakh, on my way to Tso Moriri (Indian Himalayan range). We was, this my wife, waiting for lunch in this little "fast food" at about 4.200 meters on the see level. Those tibetan women was preparing us some food.

Time

It was early afternoon.

Lighting

In this kind of photographs, I love the natural lights: I never use flash in reportage photography. In this case I used two different points of illumination: the first one were from the window in front of the old mother, and the second one were from the main entrance, just at left of gas cylinder.

Equipment

Canon EOS 6d with Canon EF 16-35 f/4 L IS USM at 19 mm. No tripod. No Flash.

Inspiration

I love family contexts, places where the intimacy of gestures writes the story of the shot. I like photographing people while they are engaged in daily actions. And I love to portray the lived places of life as I find them on my travels.

Editing

Yes, sure. I use Lightroom for set the right level of contrasts, sharpness, lights, blacks, detail, colors, point of white, ect. For the black and white conversion I use Silver Efex by Nick Software in a light mode befor to finish my work flow by Lighroom for some others local adjustements.

Actually, I use a Canon EOS 6d with 5 lenses: - Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L II USM - Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM - Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM - Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art - Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L II IS USM

In this kind of photography, It is very important to have the ability to observe and possess the desire to find out how people live far from their own country. After that, it is very important to have the ability to take photos in low light conditions and have the right equipment to do it well, with out flash, catching the real light you can see with your own eyes.
