In this image a caribbean reef shark is stalking a school of yellow tails. You can see the muscle segments that run along the length of the shark’s trunk, they are known as myomeres. A single myomere looks a little like a folded letter “W.” Its muscle fibers are separated from those in adjacent myomeres by connective tissues termed myosepta.
