Location
This photo was taken with fresh flowers at my first home.Time
It was taken prior sunset.Lighting
I wanted this image to focus on the flowers and the sunlight as a way of showing nature in both of these ways. The sun was positioned to the right hand side at about 45' angle - shining from an angle, which resulted in the background being darker.Equipment
This photo was shot on an iPhone6 with an 8mp camera, no tripod or flash was used.Inspiration
I was looking for a place to capture the sunlight on the freshly cut flowers and found windowsill to be the most natural and perfect for capturing the light that I wanted to achieve. As a first time homebuyer this was a personal photo, with my flowers homegrown and cut, overlooking my garden with the sun shining, it was a moment.Editing
I developed this photo by adding blur to the background to bring out the focus and emphasis on the flowers as the main feature and to add a subtle background. In my camera bag
I normally carry a iphone6 and compact Sony camera, although a Nikon D3300 is on my wish list to buy which will allow me to have greater control when shooting and more megapixels to bring out further quality in my photos.Feedback
Think about what time of day you are taking shots, especially if you want to focus on light. The hour prior to sunset I have found is the most golden and can capture vivid tones and contrast to photos. Focus on simplicity, 'less is more' as they say, if you overcrowd a photo the viewer will not know where to look and focus their attention on, but if you only include 2-3 things eg. flowers and sky, then the power of the photo will be greater and more captivating.
