Location
I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. This shot is taken at Spencher Beach at Spencer Park which is twenty minutes from Christchurch. Its relatively sheltered and quiet.Time
This shot was taken mid afternoon, the whole shoot lasted until sundown as I combined some full water shots with the bride and the groom.Lighting
All the way travelling to the location the sky was blue, halfway through the shoot the clouds rolled in and we had a beautiful light to work with.Equipment
I had a Canon 6d, a 17-40, 24-105 a 50mm and a 100mm with me. Two flashes and flash triggers.Inspiration
This bride was booked in for her wedding, unfortunatley my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I returned from overseas and with regret I gave my bride back her deposit as I was unable to guarantee I would be able to shoot the wedding due to my dads health,I did however offer her a free "Trash the Dress" for being so understanding ( it was 6 months out) but I still didnt want to committ if i was unable to. We shot this and I was able to show my father that I had been chosen as a finalist in the Wedding Competition, it made him so happy, unfortunatley my father passed on Monday so did not get to know the final results, however the bride on the horse was such a beautiful person she turned up to my dads funeral. This photo is for my dad, he always believed in me and was my biggest supporter.xEditing
Slight sharpening, vignetteing, a brightness contrast on the sky and overall picture, and colour correction. In my camera bag
I have a Canon 6d x 2, 1.4 extender, 50mm 1.4 ,100mm Macro, 70-300, 17-40, 24-105, two flashes and remote triggers, and a tripod.Feedback
I love shots that are unplanned, work with what nature gives you, this shot is purely shot on what the sky delivered and ofcourse a beautiful horse.
