Location
This photo was taken at the famous mountain 'Kirkjufell' in Iceland.Time
This photo was taken during sunset. Actually the sun never sets in Iceland in late spring/summer, but the low position of the sun in the late evening does create amazing colors!Lighting
The low position of the sun created a beautiful atmosphere. As there were no clouds, I had to use my graduated ND filter to darken the sky a bit, without the foreground being affected.Equipment
This was shot with my Sony A6000 and Samyang 12mm. I used a tripod and a combination of a ND filter + graduated ND filter.Inspiration
Before I went to Iceland, I had seen many pictures from this beautiful location. I wanted something 'different'. When I noticed these two people standing on the other side I did not hesitate and took my shot :).Editing
I processed the image in photoshop. I tempered the highlights, made the image warmer and added some contrast. That's it! :)In my camera bag
I shoot with an Olympus OM-D E-M1 and a Sony A6000. This was shot with my Sony and the Samyang 12mm f/2.0. A great (relatively cheap) combo! For landscape I almost always use a graduated ND filter and for long exposure also either a 3 or 6-stops ND.Feedback
Especially with famous locations like this one, try to create 'something different'. If it weren't for the people in the frame, this would have just been another 'classic Kirkjufell' shot. Before you head out research your subject and and think of interesting (new) ways to photograph it :)! Always check the weather forecast and try to plan your trip during the 'golden hour'.
