This photo is taken on Angsana Velavaru 5 star luxury resort Maldives during hosting a surprise engagement sessionTime
It such wonderful day when I saw great sunset ambiance around 5.30pm once before we ordered our tasty and gourmet dinner at Khani restaurant.Lighting
We've been so tired following 5 hours engagement session under the hot sun light so I wondering to have a short session just before we eat for dinner by posing my couple at the edge of this restaurant's wooden deck. I ask my couple to hold my flash unit and fire up with wireless trigger and receiver where you can see the behind the scene on my blog http://bimaadhitya.com/for-photographer/how-to-create-a-wow-engagement-pictures-with-1-simple-flash/Equipment
During that session I use my old Canon 5D Mark II + 16-35mm f2.8 L series lens. It's 16mm focal length with 2.8 aperture and I got 1/40 exposure time by hand held. At the same time I bring my Canon speed light and wireless trigger receiverInspiration
Seeing those beautiful sunset ambiance in Maldives suddenly inspire me to have a timeless image where my couple will see how gorgeous they are while posing in such incredible wedding destination venue in the next few decades.Editing
Yes definitely, I did a basic colour adjustment for the couple and surrounding ambiance like the sky and resort's artificial lighting, just focusing on Level, contrast, and saturation. Than I put photo filter on it and additional digital imaging to turn on the candle light which is on the table and finalize with smart sharpen image filterIn my camera bag
I used to bring 1 primary camera like what I had back in that moment is Canon 5D Mark II and I bring also my tiny Canon EOS M mirrorless for the back up. I bring 2 kind of lenses during that session, it's a 16-35mm f2.8 and 70-200 f.4 both are L series lens and in the rest of my bag I will bring wireless trigger and receiver, dimmable continuous light, and surely my external flash bodyFeedback
Learning more about off-camera flash technique is an awesome decision even you are available light maniac just like me but by using artificial lighting system than you could make your final images more dramatic
