Behind The Lens
Location
I took this in my backyard while watching the bees fly around the flowers. It is one of my first macro shots with my new lens, and I was really excited to get out there!Time
This was taken in the late morning while the sun was bright, but was there was not too strong of a shade.Lighting
I think good lighting is best from the sun, and any time of day can have its advantages. A bright day can be difficult, but beautiful shots can still be done. Also, with a brighter light, my ISO does not have to be high to get a still shot of a small creature while its moving. The morning is usually the best overall for shooting just about anything.Equipment
This was taken with my Nikon D7100 and my 105 macro lens with no flash. The light was from the sun and was sufficient to pull in all those details.Inspiration
I was initially looking at the flowers, but the bees were interesting, and weren't moving as fast because it was getting cool outside, giving me a chance to focus in and get a clean shot.Editing
I used Lightroom to change to black and white and took some of the shadow out to see more detail. In my camera bag
I normally carry my Nikon D7100, my macro 105 lens, a prime lens, and a Sigma 200-500 lens for the far away shots.Feedback
I like to go in the field where the wildflowers are, and look for butterflies and bees there. The wildflowers also make beautiful macro shots! The sun setting high is a good time, but the morning is also nice to get a pretty shot.
