Location
This photo was taken during lifestyle newborn session in the client's home.Time
I met them in their home during the morning. Almost didn't make it because it was super muddy and I had trouble getting to their house. We had to reschedule the session because baby was in the NICU and took a bit to get home.Lighting
We photographed this on the baby's changing table in the nursery. Lots of light was pouring into the one window of the room. The changing table was far enough away to not be in direct sunlight.Equipment
This was my first newborn session and I used my Canon T3i with Canon 50 1.4 lens. I have upgraded equipment, but this is still one of my favorite images, and the lighting conditions were fine for this image.Inspiration
Their baby was born close to Valentine's Day and they wanted to show their love and the smallness of their baby's feet. Dad is a farmer and was reluctant to show his hands, but this is what I love the most about this picture--his rough hands with the softness of baby's feet.Editing
I used Lightroom to give a clean edit. Also used some brush work to even skin tone and cloned out foot pricks from being in the NICU.In my camera bag
Canon 6D, Canon 24-70 2.8 ii, Canon 100 macro, Sigma 35 Art, Sigma 50 Art, Canon 135Feedback
First find good light, then place baby on his back and get parents to position hands around the feet to look like a heart. Make sure the feet are positioned so that they are not in the shadows.
