Behind The Lens

Location

this magnificent place is in Colorado " Great Sand Dunes N.M. " . They hanging on wet underground next to Sangre de Cristo mountain range .The top of dunes and shape always changing , so every time you there it will be different .Nice place !!!!

Time

it's later in the day and lite becoming more warm and pleasant ....

Lighting

as day ends sunlight changes spectrum and at lower angle shadows will appear and creates more contrast , in the middle of the it would be just flat .

Equipment

long gone film era , i had ( still do ) Canon EOS-3 with Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and Manfrotto tripod and head , Fuji Velvia 50 .

Inspiration

it's very interesting and huge place , it takes time and lots of energy to hike the dunes , some are really steep , so every step you do it sinks half way back .that day was very windy and sand blowing all over ( my hair and ears were full of it ) and that cloud in the distance looked like moving same direction ....

Editing

not really , i scanned slide with Epson scanner and that's all .

In my camera bag

well i have 3 bags now , two are like retired : one Canon EOS 3 with 3 lenses , another Pentax 67II with 3 lenses .and now i am all digital ( no escape from it ) i have Fuji X-T2 with 18-55 and 10-24 lenses and Fuji X-T1 with Zeiss 50mm macro .Love Fuji , if would be making living photographing i would have Fuji GFX medium format .

Feedback

just don't shoot midday in full sun , if it's stormy rainy or so - work it , small gaps in the clouds or rain or snow will get you busy .as Great Sand Dunes - any time of the year is good ,,you'll be very happy there !!!!
