This photo was taken at Topsail Island in North Carolina. This was, at 48 years old, my very first visit to a beach! It was in February and although the weather was a chilly 38 degrees, I still felt the need to put my toes in the water.Time
It was a surprise trip, I was in North Carolina taking a Defensive Drivers Instructional course and my Coworker and Boss decided that rather than head back after completing the training, we could stay an extra day and explore! At this time I was about 2 years in remission from Hodgkins Lymphoma and my co worker also decided it was about time I experienced the ocean. We arrived at Topsail around 11:30 am and I was immediately smitten.Lighting
I just love the way the shadows of the pilings added to the shot and the way the shadow beneath the pier gives the water that greenish tinge.Equipment
This shot was taken with an iPhone 5! I was just taking personal shot to remember the day and fell in love with this image!Inspiration
The excitement of the day, the capturing of a memory, the shadowplay I love so much and the inspiration of finally being near the ocean.Editing
No. This is just as it was taken. In my camera bag
I'm a novice shutterbug and until recently only had my phone to rely on. I happened across a Canon Rebel Xti in a pawn shop about 6 months ago and am excited and anxious to learn how to use it! Honestly, if it weren't for Viewbug? I never would have even given getting a "real" camera a thought. This site has been so invigorating and inspiring!Feedback
I don't know "rules"... I don't know much about the skill of photography At All. I just shoot. If it feels right? push the button and push it several times! Never Hesitate! :)
