Location
This is in Denver near Denver International Airport.Time
I drove to this field to catch some sunset photos. As I was driving I was worried the clouds were going to ruin the sunset. I parked and walked along the road looking for a spot that had a good amount of flowers. I set my camera and tripod up and waited as the sun began to set. The cloud cover was really thick and I was certain I was not going to get the shot I had come to shoot. But suddenly the clouds broke just as the sun was hitting the horizon and I was ready! This is the shot I had hoped to get!Lighting
I love everything about shooting in sunset light. That golden light is my favorite. This particular shot was a bit tricky as the sun broke through the clouds just as it was hitting the horizon. As any photographer knows, the sun goes so quickly at this point. I didn't feel I had time to change my settings so I had to hope that the shot wouldn't be too blown out. Luckily for me it all worked out and I am so pleased with the sunburst I managed to get!Equipment

I LOVE sunflowers! A whole field of them makes me so happy! I have long wanted to find a big field of sunflowers to shoot. A friend told me about this field out near the airport in Denver and I couldn't wait to go out and shoot. I actually went out a few times, once at sunrise and twice at sunset before I got this particular shot. Well worth it!Editing
I shoot in RAW so I did do some simple post-processing in LR. I'm not a fan of spending hours on a photo so I really try to get want I want in camera. In my camera bag
Oh boy...my bag is so heavy! I have my camera body which is a Nikon D800. Depending on the nature of my shoot I will have one or more lenses with me. I have all the usual suspects...wide angle, telephoto, macro, etc. Of course I have various filters for all my lenses. I always carry my hoodman loupe because I find it hard to see the image on the little screen on my camera, especially on bright days.Feedback
Sunflowers are fleeting. If you know of a field near you, you need to know the right time to catch them at their peak. I have tried shooting them at both sunrise and sunset. My particular field photographed best at sunset. Scout your field to figure out when it will best photograph.
