Location
I took this image on the park like campus of a Northern California college. This particular grove of flowers were growing wild off the path hidden in a wooded area.Time
Typically I start early to catch the filtered light of the morning sun and to squeeze in a walk around the lake. On this morning it was a perfect combination of light and shadows.Lighting
Most of the outdoor images I take during these outings in the morning sun have a similar quality. There is something peaceful and inviting, with the promise of a new day. I prefer natural lighting and particularly like the quality of the shadows at this time.Equipment
I took this image with my handy Canon Rebel T2i using a Canon EFS 55-250 zoom lens.Inspiration
The inspiration to shoot this image comes back to lighting. The filtered sun emphasized the lovely veining in the translucent leaves, and flooded the full bloom flower with light.Editing
On this image I did a minimal increase in contrast using Photoshop. In my camera bag
I switch between a Canon Rebel T2i with a zoom lens EFS 55-250, and a Canon 6D using a kit lens Canon EF 24-105 and a 77mm closeup lens 500 D.Feedback
Nothing was planned with this image. I was taking a typical morning walk with my camera totally dependent on what nature revealed. Timing was everything - finding the wild flower in full bloom in the optimal light. My only advice would be to be observant and go off the path to find the secrets of nature.
