This photo was taken in my country studio, an old home built in the late 1800's turned into a studio.Time
The country studio is an ever changing work space and I love it! I hand painted one of the walls earlier in the day before my clients arrived that evening. We shot this around 9pm in the winter.Lighting
This young ladies mother is also a photographer and does some styling as well, we wanted to go with something neutral all the way around. It worked perfectly to bring out her gorgeous eyes! I used one Alien Bee 400 w/ 50 inch softbox and reflector. Very simple set up.Equipment

We were actually inspired by a series of family photos from photographer L. J. Holloway. After capturing the family shot, we focused on the children and this turned out to be one of my favorites.Editing
I did very minimal post-processing. A bit of contrast, color balance adjustment and sharpening to the eyes. The photo didn't need much as I tried to capture what I wanted in camera. In my camera bag

It is an incredibly simple shot. Stick with neutral tones in the backdrop and clothing, not too far off from subject's skin tone. This was only a 1 light set up w/ reflector. Could easily be achieved with natural light (window) and reflector as well, but it was dark outside when we did the shoot. The connection with the model is super important as well!
