Hey this is cool! Looks like light rays! Were you pulling back when you shot this? Great job!

Location
This image was taken in Queens Park, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. While walking through the park I wanted an image that projected the wow factor. Having experimented with the zoom style. It all came together with this image. The light was right, the camera settings. The result as seen here has caused all sorts of responses from Photoshop options to phototrickery. All wrong it was done with a camera/lens combination. The beauty is doing it again will get a different result. Whichever method used, push/pull zoom, the subject creates the result as much as the technique. This style is about having fun, learning and having fun.Time
Approximately 2.00pm. Which for me on this occasion worked well, as the light added to the effect in this image. Agreed not everyone will feel attracted to this image, or style. Those who do love the effect.Lighting
Using this style, light is more important than usual. Due to splashing the light through the image. Photography is about light and how we use it. This style takes that a step further, subject matter and skill, create an image that will be difficult to reproduce. Different methods of this style can make the light "walk" through the image. Understanding light, and its effects can create mystical appearing images from simple everyday sights. Your imagination let loose, using camera skills, and available light create dreamscapes. This is showing light coming through a tree, simple, yet has sold many times.Equipment
Canon 450D, with a 18-55mm kit lens. Handheld. It was about a walk in the park, so I did not take a tripod.Inspiration
Looking at the tree, it was the way the branches were formed. Having an image in my mind, using the shapes I could see. I took one image, as time was short. Although I tried the same shot with other trees, the shapes were wrong, not as appealing. I will admit I was unsure about the amount of light I could see though the tree, thinking it may be too much. Setting the camera to allow for the image I had imagined. Shuffled the feet till it seemed right. The moment of truth came into being.Editing
No processing on this image. Where would you start? Decided to leave it as is.In my camera bag
Canon 450D, (upgraded to 60D), 50mm, 18-55mm kit lens, 55-250mm kit lens, 70-200L Lens, assorted polarizing lens to suit, tripod. A Muse Lensbaby.Feedback
Try it. Remember not to pull/push the zoom too much, small movements give better results. Subject matter can be as diverse as you thought process allows. From flowers to coffee shops, an empty street. What ever takes your fancy. Experiment with your thoughts, there are no wrong subjects. I have found faces in trees where there is nobody. A wedding party in a weeping willow. This style is about creating from the unusual. As you work the zoom, twist the camera, shake, roll, wriggle. Get the picture. Road signs can give you ideas, graffitti can be used, there are endless possibilities. Above all 1/10 shutter speed helps to achieve. Practice with the shutter speed so you know how long the time frame is, get used to working within that time period. Be aware checking your results on a larger screen allows you more creative license. Have fun.
