Great Gallery of works. Magnificent color, angles, composition. Iwo Jima Memorial on the 4th of July should be a post card as it showes all of DC's best.

Location
At the USMC Memorial (AKA 'The Iwo Jima statue') in Arlington Cemetery, in Virginia on the 4th of July.Time
Just after sundown when the 4th of July fireworks started.Lighting
No, it was clear and warm with a good view of the National Mall right across the Potomac River.Equipment
A nikon D80 SLR, an 80-200 f/2.8 Nikkor lens a Manfroto tripod.Inspiration
I had been wanting to shoot a time exposure of the Iwo Jima statue with the Mall in the background with the July 4th fireworks going off for a while. I got there a couple hours early so I could find a spot to shoot from, took a few test shots and then settled in to wait for the show.Editing
Just a little tweaking in Elements. In my camera bag
A D80 DSLR body. A wide angle Tamron zoo, a midrange Tamron zoom, a 90mm prime macro (nikkor) a 35-105 nikkor zoom, a 70-200 f/2.8 Tamron zoom, a flash and various filters.Feedback
When shooting time exposures a tripod and cable release are essential for keeping the image sharp while letting the light 'paint' the image with streaks of light from the fireworks. Make exposures using different focal lengths, cropping and exposure times. Shoot a lot and edit later,
