An old tractor sat by a fence holding a sign, the sunrise was in the distance and the clouds swiftly cruised over head from the gusting winds. Bitter cold nipped at my toes, fingers and lower back. I stayed only to capture a few angles.

Location
I took this photo on a failed trip to see the California poppy reserve in Landcaster California.Time
It was early morning, before the sun was up but just as it was lighting the sky. Maybe blue hour or just before the golden hour.Lighting
Nothing about lighting. If you leave your shutter open long enough you can catch anything. I don't use flash with my photography, I only use the light that is provided by the scene I see.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5100 with a kit lense set at about 18mm I believe. The shutter speed was about 13 seconds, hence the moving clouds above. I did have my camera on a tripod and I used a hand held clicker that allows 2 seconds after I click before opening the shutter. This allows movement to stop from my hands touching and setting the camera. I also stood over the tripod and camera to prevent the gusty wind from rattling it around.Inspiration
I saw it so I shot it. I don't go out knowing exactly what I am going to shoot. The thrill to me is letting my pictures appear to me while I am out. If you plan to see something, I feel, you will never find it. Let it come to you.Editing
Yes there is some post processing here. Not a lot. I use Lightroom on all my photos. Typically taking it the highlights removing shadows with some exposure and contrast adjustments. Nothing too crazy. In my camera bag
The most important thing I carry with me at all times is extra batteries and extra memory, my tripod stays in my car most of the time so it is usually readily availible if needed and a few lenses. As stated earlier I don't use flash or lights.Feedback
Yes, if you don't expose yourself to an environment you haven't been in you will never be able to capture it.
