Behind The Lens

Location

this photo was taken at around 1500 meters above sea level in the Veneto region. up there the solitary beech can admire the view all the way to Venice

Time

I had climbed to the summit to photograph the sun setting over the lakes that are not far away but on my way home I came across this spectacle of colors with a small crescent moon

Lighting

the sun just set and the clear, cold November sky created bands of warm colours, making the lighting of the scene unique

Equipment

I used a simple entry level Nikon camera, the D3400, equipped with a Nikon 55-300 lens. to get to the point where I took the shot I had to go down a tortuous slope in the dark so I brought as little material as possible with me. I shot without a tripod, sitting among the rocks to find greater stability

Inspiration

I love nature and I am lucky enough to live in a fantastic area; from where I took the photo you can see Venice with the naked eye on one side and the Dolomites on the other. every outing is a source of inspiration to photograph that paradise

Editing

post production was easy: just a few adjustments in photoshop to improve the shadows, eliminate noise and increase the contrast a little...

In my camera bag

my photographic backpack is full... Nikon D7500 as a reflex, then lenses for every need: Sigma 150-500, Nikon 55-300, Tamron 17-50 and Tokina 11-16 some filters, remote shutter release and tripod

Feedback

for photos like this the timing is the hardest part. certain colors are only available for a few minutes so it is better to plan the photographic outing calmly and always be ready to seize the moment... "carpe diem"
