Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a studio loft with natural light in Detroit. I love working with natural light in a simplistic environment.

Time

This was shot in the late afternoon. I wanted to achieve a subtle "moodyness".

Lighting

I love working with natural light and using the time of day to achieve the mood. It' not easy to rely on the weather (especially in Detroit) but when it cooperates it's magical.

Equipment

Sony A7 3, Sony G Master 24-70mm. Handheld, no flash

Inspiration

I love working with confident/talented models that can portray multiple moods and expressions. Working with Ali is all the inspiration that I needed.

Editing

I do all of my own post production from editing and re-touching to color grading.

In my camera bag

I like to be as minimalistic as possible. I pack my camera, 2 lenses, some filters, a flash, some spare batteries, spare cards and a bottle of bourbon.

Feedback

Your subject is key. They have to understand the vision and be able to deliver. Once you find your location and figure out the lighting the rest will come with a synergetic flow.
