Behind The Lens

Location

We took this photo in downtown Tampa, just north of channelside.

Time

Just after golden hour had passed.

Lighting

Brought my GVM rgb led panel to throw some colorful light. Ended up using this lighter pink that played upon the surrounding dark.

Equipment

Canon r5 with canon 24-105mm l series lens

Inspiration

This photo is inspired by author Mykai Eastman’s play, ‘lovejoy’, in which the breakout lead role of Hannah was played my Meghan C Horrigan. Mykai and I are also huge fans of Star Wars, so this is sort of a fusion between his vision and our favorite series.

Editing

Processed using photoshop. Not much in the way of digital makeup or retouching here. I really enjoyed this photo as a raw capture and simply decided to pick up the colors.

In my camera bag

I usually bring a GVM light, some extra batteries for that and my r5. I keep my nifty 50 on me as well, just in case. I also usually have some filters and a bounce with me in case as well.

Feedback

Led light mobility is revolutionary. I’ve never used flash as a photographer and will likely always use continuous light, befitting my style as a cinematographer as well. Think of your photos like 1 frame of a film… thought out palettes and compositions go a long way.
