Location
This shot is at Winnats Pass in the Peak District in the UK. I waited until there were no cars or people in sight as I wanted to capture the isolation of this location.Time
This was taken later on in the afternoon. I had walked up to the location with the hope of getting a sunset shoe but as in most cases with landscape photography, the weather didn't want to cooperate.Lighting
I waited until the clouds started to form to give some character to the sky.Equipment
I used a Canon 90D mounted on a tripod as although it was fairly good light, I was shooting at ISO100 and the shutter speed was to slow to go with a hand held shot.Inspiration
From the viewpoint of the location, its great the way the road snakes its way between the two sides of the gorge and disappears into the distanceEditing
It was fairly easy to process, I did add some colour to the scene using HSL in Lightroom and also a little contrast in the sky to emphasise the cloud. In my camera bag
In addition to my camera, I always have 3 lenses (10-24mm / 35-150mm / 70-200mm) and then a range of filters, plenty of spare batteries and a waterproof jacket, just in case !!!Feedback
As in this case I didn't get the shot I was hoping for (a sunset) so its a location that I will keep going back to until I get the shot. If you are keen on landscape photography, the secret is having patience until the conditions are right and to find locations that you can return to when the conditions suit the type of image you are looking for.
