Behind The Lens
Location
There is a tree in front of where I live that seem to attract a lot of different birds and was fortunate enough to capture this woodpecker hanging out one day in this tree.Time
This was the best image I captured that day of the woodpecker. I rushed to get the camera ready when I first saw the bird in the tree. It moved around a few times before I was able to get a few shots and this shot was taken at 1:09 PMLighting
The sun was in the south west, so the light was great. The blue sky and autumn leaves made for a good background.Equipment
This was shot on a Sony Alpha 3000 w/ Canon EFS 55 - 250 mm lensInspiration
I had seen this woodpecker around before, but it was never around for very long. Most times, I was not able to get my camera ready in time to get a picture. This was exciting for me. My inspiration comes from the photographers that capture the beauty of nature, and the opportunity to capture nature and share nature's beauty.Editing
I cropped the image background. In my camera bag
I always pack my Sony Alpha 3000 body, I like the features and it fit the lenses I like. I pack my Canon 28-90mm lens for a wide angle shot and my Canon EFS 55-250mm lens for the close ups. I carry extra lens caps and a body cap. I have a battery charger packed with the car adapter in case I need to charge on the go. A lens cleaning kit is always packed. A rain hood for the gear bag in case of unexpected rain, to keep my gear dry.Feedback
Be patient. Be quiet. Move Slowly. Be Prepared. Take as many shots as you can and choose the best shot.
