Location
This photo was taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.Time
Image was taken during full daylight and in the harsh light around lunchtime.Lighting
I wanted this image to be all about the flower, but still applying the rules of composition. I took quite a few images before settling on this particular composition. I waited until a cloud went over the sun to flatten out the lighting and remove any harsh shadows.Equipment
This image was taken handheld using a Canon 550D with Macro Lens.Inspiration
I'm always looking for photo opportunities and generally always have a camera of some description with me. I love flowers and to experiment with macro photography and composition.Editing
Very little post processing was required. Some minor adjustments to composition and colour only.In my camera bag
I'm a big believer in just using the camera that you happen to have with you at the time. I usually have my Canon DSLR with 24-105 lens or my iPhone.Feedback
Look for striking colour contrasts and spend time thinking about composition. If you can, wait for the perfect light. It doesn't have to mean that you can only photograph early morning or late afternoon. Wait for a cloud, or if that's not going to happen improvise your own shade. Improvisation and experimentation are key. Just get out there and take photos and see what beauty you can capture!
