Location
This photo was taken at Honeymoon lake on the Icefields Parkway just outside of Jasper, ABTime
We were on our honeymoon and saw the sign for this lake it seemed like fate just as golden hour was approaching.Lighting
Speaking to another couple that we’re on the lakeside they said it was the first time in 3 days that the lake had been still. The light dancing on the mountain top just topped it off!Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon d7200 with Sigma 17-70 using the Manfrotto Befree tripod.Inspiration
I’ve always been drawn to water and for a lake to be called Honeymoon on our actual honeymoon. It seemed like all the stars aligned with the perfect sunset and beautiful colour in the sky.Editing
I pulled out the light on the mountain and pushed the contrast to bring the image to life and the way in which I saw the scene play outIn my camera bag
I normally carry a Sony a7iii with Sigma 24-70, manfrotto befree tripod and Gobe Variable ND filter.Feedback
I exposed for the sky so I could bring out the details in the shadows. Normally I shoot a lot of long exposures however shooting at such a short shutter speed enabled me to capture the shapes of the cloud and use that to contrast the pine beetle affected pine trees
