Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Oslo, my hometown. This building is quite special and I have taken a couple of other pictures of it earlier. But this time nature was on my side and the extra 10% I was looking for came out!

Time

This shot was taken right after the sun had set and the night started to come. I waited until I got the darker blue and purple colours before pressing the button.

Lighting

Only ambient light was used for this shot.

Equipment

This was taken with my trusted Nikon d7500, a Tamron wide angle lens ar f11 with a nisi ND filter. Exposure for about 1 minute. I wanted that long exposure dragged out sky on this.

Inspiration

I wanted to take a picture of architecture with my own take on the surroundings and expression. I mostly do landscape, so I wanted to have some of my ways of shooting landscape to blend into this.

Editing

I did a little processing in light room with this. I mostly opened up the shadows, took down the orange in Light of the building and vignetted it quite much to get the focus of the view pinned in towards the middle of the shot.

In my camera bag

I always have my Nikon d7500 and my wide angle. At the moment I use Tokina f2, 8 11-20mm. I also have a Tamron 35mm f1, 4, and a zoom lens. At last of course a little handful of filters. Mostly ND filters. Tripod from rollei and

Feedback

Play around with exposure time, filters and time of day to get your shot. As I see it it about 20% planning, 40% on site, 30% post processing and 10% mother nature... The last 10% always gives the most uniqe shots, if she is in a good mood and on your side ????
