Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my clients home in January. There’s something extra special about capturing a family in their own space.

Time

It was mid day, we had a string of really dark and rainy days, but luckily the sun poked out just as I arrived to do their session.

Lighting

I wanted this photo to look authentic and real. I didn’t want any extra lighting or anything special. I hoped to show the viewer, exactly what the parents see when they look at these tiny little feet.

Equipment

For this shot I used my Canon camera with my 50mm lens.

Inspiration

Who doesn’t love baby feet? They’re so perfect and adorable. I wanted to capture “the beginning” and what better way to do that than capturing newborn feet, before they take on the world.

Editing

Not much, I played around with curves, and added a slight matte look.

In my camera bag

I always carry my three favourite lenses, 50mm, 85mm and 70-200mm. Other than that and some backup memory cards and batteries, I’m set!

Feedback

Just take the photo. It’s easy to overthink and over analyze and idea you have in mind. My best advice is to just take the photo. It’s the best way to learn and grow. You might surprise yourself!
