Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken along the edge of a small patch of woods. The sun was setting behind this young lady.

Time

Thus was taken during golden hour.

Lighting

The lighting direction was carefully chosen as I wanted to get the rim lighting around her. We tried several different spots before we found this one, which was perfect.

Equipment

Canon 5D Mark III, 85mm f/1.8 lens

Inspiration

I've always wanted to do a series of portraits with a freckled face. This model was inexperienced, yet very good at taking direction, so the set up was easy.

Editing

Some color adjustment, slight boost in the shadows, and other common portrait corrections.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark III, 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8, 70-200 f/2.8. Yongnuo flashes, tripod, CP filters.

Feedback

Look for the right backlighting, pick the golden hour, don't be afraid to move around and experiment.
