Great capture, it looks like "she" is ready to take off right at your lens.

Location
I took this photo at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane Australia. Spirit is a rescued Wedge-tailed Eagle, you can see his right wing hangs lower than his left wing because he was hit by a car. I go to Lone Pine all the time as I love being so close to these amazing raptors & they are really well looked after & loved by their handlers.Time
I took this photo around 1pm as Spirit was in the second show of the day.Lighting
The sun was behind Spirit so it made for great backlighting.Equipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Canon 100-400mm. hand held at a focal length of 100/1Inspiration
Spirit was looking right into my lens I had to capture that moment.Editing
I don't do much post-processing with this kind of image just a couple of tweaks in Photoshop Camera Raw.In my camera bag
Well I have 2 cameras a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, & an EOS 7D Mark II. My favourite wildlife lenses that I own are the Canon 100-400mm I also have a 1.4 extender & the Tamron 150-600mm.Feedback
Focusing on the eyes is the best advice I can give with wildlife photography. I like to have complete control over my images so I only shoot in full manual. Knowing the capabilities of your camera is also very important especially on a dull day so you know how high you can push your ISO without getting noise. Just go out there have fun & experiment.
