Location
This photograph was taken while I was in Lahaina, Hawaii. I'm a merchant sailor and sometimes am able to grab a few hours ashore to walk around and enjoy the local scenery. Our liberty boat had dropped us off at a local pier and as I walked along the beachfront on the paved pathways, I took this photo.Time
This was taken mid-morning. It takes awhile to get ashore when having to rely on liberty boats from the ship. It was Christmas Eve, 2010.Lighting
Hawaii has great light, even in December.Equipment
Canon Powershot G12. It was the best camera that the camera store that I went to there in Lahaina had that day within my budget. I'd bought it the day before when my previous camera stopped working.Inspiration
I love to keep a record of the places that I've been and the 'feel' of the states or countries that I visit. I loved the way the trees naturally leaned towards the water.Editing
No processing whatsoever. In my camera bag
As a sailor with limited weight on the luggage that we take to ships where I often will stay for a year or more, I've resorted to a cell phone and either a simple digital cameraFeedback
Just keep your eyes open. If it's something that you find pleasing, other people probably will as well.
