Colors of sunset on the Housatonic River

Swans visit our dock on the Housatonic River in Stratford, CT every day for their dinner of Cheerios.

I usually take landscape and nature pictures, but I shot this for variety and just for fun.

It is so cool when the sun sets and the moon rises near the same time. The colors are beautiful.

Sitting on the beach, drinking wine, and watching the sun set and the boats sail by. So peaceful and relaxing.

I cannot decide if this is a bear or an otter - probably an otter since I live on the water.

This struck me as a 'genie out of the bottle' image, with the moon escaping captivity.

Location

This photo was taken on the beach outside the Ritz Carlton in Aruba.

Time

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is to watch the sunset from a beach chair with a glass of wine in my hand and my husband by my side. This is a perfect time of day, not only because of the beauty of the sunset on the water but also because the beach has cleared out by then, and we are virtually alone - almost like a deserted island. It is so peaceful and tranquil!

Lighting

Since the sun is not high in the sky, there is no glare. The colors of the sky and the water are incredibly beautiful, but subdued.

Equipment

Canon Rebel T6. As I was sitting on a lounge chair on the beach, I used my knee as a tripod.

Inspiration

Sunsets inspire me. Every one is different, and each one changes every second. It is one beautiful view after another.

Editing

In my camera bag

Just my camera and a couple of lenses.

Feedback
