Behind The Lens
Location
I took this picture at a nearby sunflower farm in early September. I take my family there yearly for family photos.Time
This was taken in the afternoon on a beautiful partly sunny afternoon. I had been after landscape pictures of the sky and flowers together, along with some of my 3 teenage children.Lighting
The sun gave me the light necessary for this shot.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon 3200 with kit lens and auto settings.Inspiration
My children were getting tired of me taking pictures and started walking to the car. I was walking slowly behind and saw the butterfly on the flower. I took the shot. At the time, it was just a quick shot that I didn't realize was that appealing until I saw it on my screen.Editing
I use a free photo editor and increased saturation and boosted contrast a little bit.In my camera bag
At the time I took this photo, I had my Nikon 3200 and two kit lenses. I've since added a speedlight, some extension tubes and a 50mm prime lens. I still use my kit lenses and my 3200 for the majority of my photography.Feedback
Take the shot. If you don't have the expensive equipment and fancy lenses, take the shot with what you have. Photography and photo editing doesn't have to use only the expensive programs. There are a variety of free or low-cost options. As you take more photos, you may find your niche and what interests you. As you gain skills in that niche, you can then use those skills to explore new areas of photography. As your budget and experience increases and improves you may find yourself ready to upgrade your equipment but you will do it because you will already know you are a good photographer, and not in an attempt to become a good photographer. .
