I took this photo in my backyard. I have a bird feeder and the chipmunks frequent it more than the birds. I always put flower pots around the yard and the chipmunks love to dig around in them.Time
I took this photo in the late afternoon. The lighting is less harsh and there are less shadows in my yard. I like early morning too.Lighting
If it is too sunny the photographs have to many sun glares and shadows. I like early morning or late afternoon when the sun is less strong. Overcast days are nice too but sometimes too dark.Equipment
I use my Nikon 3200. I have a 55-200 mm lens. I always use the zoom so the photo is clear and background blurred.Inspiration
I saw a painting once of a squirrel holding a flower. I thought it would be wonderful to capture a chipmunk in a bed of flowers with a flower in his hand. Easier said than done.Editing
I use Lightroom to enhance the color and reduce the exposure. But not too much. I don't want it to look over processed. In my camera bag
Just my camera,I like to travel light!Feedback
It takes a lot of patience. It took months and thousands of tries to get this shot. It is hard to photograph wild animals because they are unpredictable and very skittish. I don't like to invade their space so I stand back and wait for something to happen. Its a lot of waiting.! But sometimes I get lucky.
