Behind The Lens
Location
I go to the College of Craft and Design, I have access to the studio there. I shot this photo there.Time
It was in the evening after class, I shut all the lights of, save for the alien bees I used, to get a perfect black background.Lighting
I wanted the legs to look disembodied, so the lights are shined directly on the legs with no background lighting.Equipment
The photo is of myself so I used a tripod, alien bees for lighting and a 50mm lens.Inspiration
This photo was taken for a project called "a-z", this was E for "enter at your own risk". It a little bit dark I suppose.Editing
I used light room to dodge and burn, just to make sure the legs really stood out. I also cropped all evidence of a body above the legs out.In my camera bag
my camera, 2 lenses, 2 memory cards, my charger and a flash.Feedback
If you're looking to create a similar disembodied look it can be done without the use of a studio, so long as you have a dark background and access to some kind of editing tool to burn and dodge. (and of course a good light source!)
