Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home town of Goondiwindi , Queensland , Australia.

Time

I was at our annual Campdraft which is a big horse event. As I was driving around late in the afternoon a large semi trailer came past to pick up cattle and with the dust and the sun setting behind them these horses looked amazing. Luckily I had my camera there to record the moment!

Lighting

The sun had gone down enough that it was just on the horizon and the softer light was streaming throught the trees

Equipment

This photo was shot on my Canon 60D

Inspiration

I am always looking for great rural photos and this really caught my eye. What more could you ask for but late afternoon sunlight, dust , horses and silhouettes.

Editing

The photo was cropped and the colours deepened and sharpened but that was all it really needed.

In my camera bag

I usually have my camera, a Canon 60D with me but that is all.

Feedback

To capture a shot like this you have to be in the right spot at the right time. Dust is great for creating atmosphere and when the sun is low but not down is the best time.
