Location
I took the photo in the yard at work. It was the gravel and the wooden fence that appealed to me and it worked well for the shallow depth of field.Time
Late morningLighting
I chose an overcast day to give an even diffused light.Equipment
I used an old m42 mount f/1.8 55mm Takumar lens on my Sony A6000. I wanted a vintage feel to the photo and this choice of lens seemed right for the job.Inspiration
I bought a 20 year old bike from Gumtree, cut the frame into 5 bits, lowered it, stretched it, made seat handlebars forks out of scrap metal. and left it half under water for 5 months,,,,,,Tools involved were, welder, grinder, and gaffer tape.I enjoyed building the bike and wanted to capture it on film with a vintage feel to complement the looks of the bike. I love all things retro.Editing
Little processing was done accept adding dome vignetting and giving the shot an older look.In my camera bag
I try to keep my camera kit minimal these days. Just 2 cameras and a 3 or 4 lenses. I have always used Sony, but also love to use M42 manual focus lenses with an adapter.Feedback
I had a good image of what I wanted weeks before I took the shot. This made it a lot easier on the day. I knew where to set up and what angle to shoot from.
