Location
This photo was taken on the beautiful beaches of Carlsbad, California.Time
9am is the best time for photos on the beaches in California. There is still a slight marine layer so no harsh lights are disrupting the beauty of the shot.Lighting
This is all natural god given sky. The key is getting out there before the sun is high in the sky and while the marine layer is still burning off.Equipment
Hand held shot with a Canon 80D no flash.Inspiration
I’d seen a photo in a frame on Pinterest and presented it to my client. They loved the idea so we went with it. I did one with both mom and dad so she could have a trifecta group on her wall.Editing
Nope the natural lighting was good to me this day. If I did anything at all I just took down the brightness a little. In my camera bag
I don’t have a lot of lenses for my Canon because I switch from Nikon to Canon a few years ago, but I always carry my 50mm,40mm, and my stock lens 18-55. Lots of batteries a flash and a back up camera body. I’ve been on a shoot where my shutter busted and I had to re-schedule that shoot.Feedback
The only advise I can share is to get out there as early as possible or late in the evening so the sun isn’t harsh. You never want a photo where they subjects are squinting.
